‘Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams’ is the third album by Munich based Angela Aux. A reduced and coherent effort, a folk album full of these little, unforgettable melodies and precise aphorisms. ‘It’s an inwardly record’, he says, ‘the lyrics should make people think. It’s about identities and about always wanting to be something else than what you are. Somewhere between Erich Kästner and Allen Ginsberg, I guess.’

In his songs Angela Aux virtuously shifts perspectives. He dives deep into the dreams, fears and various mental conditions of us contemporary westerners, holding up mirrors. ‘Big City Blues’ is a song in the key of urban existentialism, ‘Help Me Out’ opens a door to the true self through daydreams and shadows and ‘Fucked Up Blues’ unmasks the neuroticisms of our modern affluent societies. Bit by bit Angela Aux spins a web of pointed yet poetic remarks on our in many ways fucked up zeitgeist.

The music on ’Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams’ gives the lyrics enough space for them to slowly unfold their effect. Just guitar, vocals, piano, strings and bits of gentle electronics and field recordings here and there. No bells and whistles, no pomp, just space to breathe, think, breathe. Producer Nico Sierig (Joasihno, Instrument) was responsible for the recording. He managed to capture the spirit of icons like Elliot Smith and Nick Drake on his old tape recorder.
